Dalee In the Woods

The official Visualizer for berlin-based R and B Singer Dalees song In the Woods highlights the versatile creative role of Marie Zechiel.
For this project, Marie not only took on the Movement Direction, but also directed the video and developed the overall concept. Her vision shaped the entire piece, from idea to execution, making this visualizer a truly holistic artistic work. At the center of the video is Dalee, appearing in a breathtakingly crafted set design: an island made of flowers, suspended in an endless space. This visual world reflects the song’s poetic and dreamlike atmosphere, translating music into imagery that feels immersive and otherworldly. Maries conceptual approach was to create a space that is both intimate and surreal—a place that mirrors the inner landscape of the music. As Movement Director, Marie worked closely with Dalee to shape her presence within this environment. Every gesture, every shift of posture was designed to feel natural yet visually striking, aligning with the set and the song’s emotional tone. Since Dalee is primarily a singer and not a trained performer, Marie’s coaching was crucial. She guided her with sensitivity and precision, ensuring her movements felt authentic while also carrying the weight of the visual narrative. The combination of direction, concept development, and movement coaching is what makes this project stand out. Marie created not only a stage for Dalee but also the atmosphere in which the performance could unfold—an aesthetic and emotional framework that turned the visualizer into a piece of visual poetry. With In the Woods, Marie Zechiel once again proved her ability to merge artistic vision, movement expertise, and directorial skill into a coherent and powerful visual narration.
