The TV campaign “Inclusion is Unstoppable” for Mercedes Benz features a diverse cast, including celebrity singer Lucky Love, professional athlete Leon Schäfer, and designer Lu. Each cast member has a physical disability, showcasing their strength and talent in a powerful way. Marie Zechiel, as the Movement Director, played a vital role in this campaign. Maries work involved tailoring her approach to each individual cast member. She understands that every person is unique, regardless of physical ability. For Lucky Love, she focused on integrating movement that highlighted the artist’s dynamic presence and musical energy. Her direction was aimed at enhancing Lucky’s performance while respecting his individual needs. With Leon Schäfer, Maries approach was centered around his athletic background. She designed movement sequences that showcased his physical prowess and adaptability. Marie worked closely with Leon to ensure that his movements were both impactful and reflective of his athletic abilities. For designer Lu, Marie adapted her direction to fit the unique style and presence of a fashion designer. She created movements that complemented Lu’s role in the campaign, integrating fashion with functional movement. Marie’s guidance helped Lu express creativity and confidence. Marie Zechiel expertise ensured that every cast member’s strengths were highlighted. She adapted her direction to fit each person’s needs, demonstrating that inclusivity involves understanding and celebrating individual differences. Marie’s work exemplified that regardless of disability, every person has unique qualities and abilities that deserve to be showcased. As a movement director Marie Zechiel researches, develops and instructs sophisticated movement and body languages for a project aiming to create a suitable and unique physical narrative that raises production quality and authenticity.
In exchange with the director and team she proposes a motion vocabulary and choreography which fits best to the project’s vision, before she develops specific training methods and teaches all necessary skills to the performers (e.g. actors, singers, dancers, models, extras).
Especially on set with the production Marie Zechiel is a valuable motion supervisor to translate last-minute improvements as a movement director. Her skill-set includes underwater movement, cross-gendered movements and chorus work as well as doing choreographies in different dance styles.
Her field of work is specialised in camera productions such as commercials, music videos, photo shootings but also fashion shows and gallery spaces and the movement mentoring for artists. As a Choreographer and Movement Director Marie Zechiel has been involved in many music videos, commercial shoots and fashion shows. Clients include: VOGUECalvin Klein, Longines, Heidi Klum, Rammstein, Herbert Grönemeyer, Mercedes Benz.
