Oxygen by ANIKA
Marie Zechiel teamed up with director Laura Martinova to bring the music video for Oxygen, the latest release by artist ANIKA, to life. As Movement Director, Zechiel worked not only with the dancer cast but also directly guided ANIKA herself, shaping the emotional and physical language of the entire piece. The result is a hauntingly poetic visual story where breath, tension, and release form the core of the movement vocabulary. Zechiels choreography explores the delicate interplay between control and surrender — between holding on and letting go. Her work with ANIKA was rooted in building trust and helping the artist embody vulnerability through motion. Each gesture becomes a vessel for the songs themes of longing, fragility, and quiet strength. The dancers surrounding ANIKA mirror and contrast her energy, forming a visual echo chamber that amplifies the track’s emotional depth. Together with Martinovas cinematic direction, Zechiels movement direction creates a world where time seems suspended — a space where motion becomes emotion. The choreography is subtle yet powerful, weaving through the video like a pulse. From restrained stillness to fluid release, every movement serves the story. This project is a testament to Zechiel’s ability to merge technical direction with emotional resonance, using the body as a channel for storytelling that lingers long after the screen fades to black.
