CODESS a performative Installation by UY Studios and Candela Capitan

CODESS is a groundbreaking interactive installation with live performances that fuse machines, light, and 4DSOUND. In this two-hour immersive experience, every moment is unique and unrepeatable. Set in a world on the brink, where hope and fear collide, CODESS explores the overexposed nature of our technological future—a future that is already our present. The centerpiece of CODESS is a rotating robot, placed in an urban setting that confronts our fear of a tech-dominated future. Its rotating arm creates a meditative, trance-like state that invites reflection. This mechanical movement is contrasted by the live performance choreographed by Candela Capitan. Twelve performers, including Berlin-based dancer and movement director Marie Zechiel, move around the robot, blending with the futuristic staging. The performance reflects on modern societys relationship with technology, merging strong visual elements with soft, detailed movements. Marie Zechiel played a crucial role in CODESS. Not only did she perform, but she was also responsible for stage management and casting, ensuring the seamless execution of this complex production. Her expertise in movement direction brought the performers‘ interaction with the rotating robot to life, enhancing the emotional and philosophical impact of the piece. The costumes, designed by UY Studio, emphasized the fluidity and individuality of each performer, while also representing the collective diversity of society. The CODESS experience was further enriched by the carefully composed sound design by Dasha Rush, who worked with spatial sound artist William Russell to create a 4DSOUND environment. This advanced audio system allowed participants to experience sound as a tangible, immersive reality. CODESS also featured Anti-Atlantis by Sensus Communis, a VR experience that plunges participants into a dystopian vision of the future, challenging them to awaken to the present. This sensory journey, guided by Marie Zechiel’s stage management and casting, encourages deep introspection and exploration of the surrounding space. Marie s involvement in CODESS extended beyond performance, showcasing her versatility and critical role in bringing this innovative installation to life.
