Cynical Two Colors Safri Duo

The music video for Cynical by Two Colors is a mesmerizing blend of sound and visuals, featuring the legendary Safri Duo. Directed by the iconic Specter Berlin, the video carries his signature aesthetic, which is dark, intense, and uniquely captivating. Movement Director Marie Zechiel played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life.
Marie worked closely with the band Two Colors and Safri Duo, aligning their musical energy with the visual narrative. Her task was to create movement sequences that resonated with the song’s intense, edgy vibe. The goal was to convey an alien-like atmosphere, both through the dancers‘ movements and the overall visual tone of the video. Marie’s direction was key to achieving this otherworldly feel. Maries involvement went beyond just directing movement. She collaborated intensively with Specter Berlin, contributing to the creative process from the early stages. Together, they brainstormed ideas, discussed the mood and aesthetics, and made decisions on casting. Their close collaboration ensured that the movement direction was in perfect harmony with Specter Berlin’s vision. The dancers in the video, under Maries direction, became the embodiment of this alien-like world. She crafted movements that were both unsettling and hypnotic, enhancing the eerie, futuristic atmosphere that Specter Berlin aimed to create. Her choreography was designed to push the boundaries, making the dancers appear as if they were from another realm, enhancing the video’s dark and surreal quality. Marie Zechiels role was not just about choreography but about creating a cohesive narrative through movement. Her ability to interpret and amplify the director’s vision was crucial in making Cynical a visually and emotionally powerful music video. The result is a striking piece of art that marries music, movement, and visual storytelling in a way that is both innovative and unforgettable.

In exchange with the director and team she proposes a motion vocabulary and choreography which fits best to the project’s vision, before she develops specific training methods and teaches all necessary skills to the performers (e.g. actors, singers, dancers, models, extras).
